On the Second Day of Christmas my true friend gave to me...
Pennies from Heaven...
A CHRISTMAS THOUGHT FOR THE DAY...“Work on the First Christmas”
“The Almighty Ruler of time, space, and eternity arrived on earth in the midst of healthy normal life and work. In adult life, He would describe Himself as the Lamb of God and the Good Shepherd. Evidently God has time for humble activities like watching over dumb dirty sheep; and He is content to identify Himself with them. Our God took trouble to include the animals in Christ’s arrival - sheep in the field, and animals in the basic shelter where He was born. Farming was the main economic activity in those days, and shepherds were down at the bottom of the social scale. Our Lord made His arrival right in the middle of everyone’s normal working tasks, and identified Himself with them. Some centuries earlier, He had called a shepherd boy, David, to be one of the greatest kings of Israel. The story of the first Christmas is really the story of an invasion and a battlefield. The King of Glory invaded the world in a manner which emphasizes that His followers are called to be His agents in reclaiming daily life and work for Him.”

I LOVE TO TELL THE STORY—"Pennies for Heaven”
Many years ago, when I was making 75 cents an hour, my three children asked for bicycles for Christmas, but I couldn’t afford them.
So, that January, I put three bikes on layaway. I paid all through the year, but a week before Christmas, I still owed $14.50. The Saturday before Christmas, my son Ricky asked how much I needed.
When I told him, he asked if he could pour the pennies out of the penny jug we kept.
I said, “Son, I don’t care, but I know there’s not $14.50 worth of pennies in there.”
Ricky poured them out, counted them, and said, “Mom, there’s $15.50 worth of pennies.”
Ecstatic, I told him to count out $1 for gas so I could go get the bikes.
I’ve always thought of this as our little miracle. It was as blessed a Christmas as anyone could ever have.

YOUR MIRTHFUL MOMENT OF THE DAY...
One Christmas my husband put an assortment of beauty products in my stocking. I tried one of the facial masks, and was about to wash it off when my eight-year-old son, Callum, walked in. I explained to him that it was a present from his dad and it would make me beautiful.
He patiently waited by my side as I rinsed and patted my face dry.
“Well, what do you think?” I asked.
“Oh, Mom, it didn’t work!” Callum replied.
